March’s entry to the 2GG Championship Series for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be 2GG: Civil War, taking place the weekend of March 24-26. However, tournament organizers 2GG and the hosting Esports Arena in Santa Ana, CA are looking to make this more than the average Smash Bros. tournament.

Following Saturday’s Midwest Mayhem Saga, 2GG’s Champ Tangwongkitsiri announced that Civil War would receive a $30,000 pot bonus courtesy of Esports Arena, prior to revealing the full rosters for the 10v10 Team ZeRo vs. Team Ally crew battle.

Team ZeRo will be led by Team SoloMid’s Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios:

  • Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez Perez

  • Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada

  • Ryuto “Ranai” Hayashi

  • Larry Lurr

  • James “VoiD” Makekau-Tyson

  • Rei “komorikiri” Furukawa

  • Jason “ANTi” Bates

  • Alberto “Trela” Miliziano

  • Freddie “FOW” Williams

Team Ally will be led by Cloud9’s Elliot “Ally” Carroza:

  • Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby

  • Yuta “Abadango” Kawamura

  • Ramin “Mr. R” Delshad

  • Tyler “Marss” Martins

  • Takuto “Kameme” Ono

  • Julian “Zinoto” Carrington

  • Eric “Mr. E” Webber

  • Nicholas “Ned” Dovel

  • Marcus “Pink Fresh” Wilson

The crews battle will receive a third of the announced pot bonus and is touted as the culmination of the ZeRo/Ally rivalry that has been ongoing since the days of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

There are a few notable names on each side. Trela recently returned from a hiatus, in which he and sponsor Panda Global went their separate ways. He recently won the Austin’s Really Feeling It monthly tournament, defeating MKLeo 3-1 in Grand Finals. Mr. R is another eye-opener and it remains to be seen whether the current unfolding situation regarding President Trump’s immigration order will ultimately affect his attendance.

2GG and Esports Arena are also hoping to stack the singles and doubles tournaments with top talent, extending invitations to all 50 members of the Panda Global Rankings Top 50 and offering to reimburse their travel expenses. The winner of the singles tournament will advance to December’s Championship Saga, with 2GG noting that point values will be doubled for this spring season finale.

Early bird registration for 2GG: Civil War is open through Monday, February 20. The event will stretch around the block surrounding the Esports Arena and remain open for 60 consecutive hours from 10:00 AM on Friday, March 24 through 10:00 PM on Sunday, March 26.
