You can now watch ESL matches in-flight on Emirates Airline

ESL has signed a deal with Emirates Airline to air VODs of the biggest matches in the tournament organizer’s recent history, the organization announced Wednesday.

Matches will be available on demand on every Emirates Airline flight, with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, StarCraft II, and League of Legends all included in the deal. While live matches won’t be available for streaming, ESL does promise to update the VODs section with any upcoming matches that happen in the coming months.

Says ESL VP of global media rights Torsetn Haux, “At ESL, we are always looking to increase the visibility of esports and are happy to work with Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, on our first inflight entertainment deal. As a truly global company with events all around the world, I’m sure that players and fans will enjoy ESL’s esports highlights as they travel on Emirates airline.”

ESL events include Intel Extreme Masters, ESL One, ESL Pro League, and a slew of smaller tournaments.

In other industry news, Activision Blizzard president and CEO Bobby Kotick declared he’s aiming for NBA and NFL-sized revenues for the Overwatch League, while Astralis and Virtus.pro will be facing off in a $250,000 winner-take-all rematch of last year’s ELeague finals.
