Chelsea plan to send racist fans on educational visits to Auschwitz instead of issuing bans

Chelsea want to introduce a new method of tackling anti-Semitism at the club by sending racist supporters on trips to Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.

The educational courses would be instead of imposing banners orders on fans and is backed by the club's order Roman Abramovich, who is Jewish.

In Sept 2017, Chelsea openly criticised a section of their own fans after anti-Semitic chants were aimed towards rival club Tottenham.

The idea behind new initiative - giving fans the option of attending the second world war concentration camp in Poland rather than losing their season tickets - is to try and better change the attitudes of the fans.

“If you just ban people, you will never change their behaviour,” Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck told The Sun.

“This policy gives them the chance to realise what they have done, to make them want to behave better.

“In the past we would take them from the crowd and ban them, for up to three years. Now we say: ‘You did something wrong. You have the option. We can ban you or you can spend some time with our diversity officers, understanding what you did wrong.’”
