The best North American Halo teams battled it out this past weekend in Los Angeles in the culmination of the Halo Championship Series summer season. Once again, world champions Counter Logic Gaming came out on top, winning the biggest chunk of the $225,000 prize pool.

The only team to take a game off the unstoppable CLG squad was the newly signed Cloud9 roster, featuring popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. After dispatching Cloud9 in a 4-2 victory, CLG managed two 4-0 wins over EnvyUs and Enigma6, making them the clear-cut best of North America.

CLG have been on a rampage over the past year in Halo. The team ran right through the North American HCS qualifiers and also destroyed the competition at the World Championship earlier this year, earning them the lion’s share of the massive $2.5 million prize pool.

The HCS Pro League also held their relegation tournament, with Optic Gaming, Team Liquid, Denial Esports, and eLevate competing for a spot in the league. Team Liquid played some of their best Halo in recent memory, going 8-0 over Denial and eLevate without dropping a map. After some incredibly intense games, Optic squeaked in behind them to qualify for the fall season.
