Colin Kaepernick files to trademark black-and-white image of his face and hair

If you’ve ever dreamed of Colin Kaepernick’s afro and beard on a candle in the living room, you may be in luck.

Kaepernick’s company, Inked Flash, filed to trademark a black-and-white image of his face and hair with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Friday. ESPN was the first to report the news.

According to the application, Kaepernick plans to use the logo on a varied list of items that includes lotions, shampoo (obviously), candles, cell phone cases, jewelry, hand fans, door mats, lollipops and gummy candies.

He also filed the trademark to provide classes, workshops, seminars and camps in the “field of self empowerment and awareness to properly interact with law enforcement.” The application includes plans to provide a website and possibly produce TV shows and movies that feature information about “education, social activism, self-empowerment and awareness.”

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback was the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality. Last month Nike made him the face of its 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign in a controversial move.

A week later he opened a pre-sale for “ImwithKap” jerseys that sold out immediately.

Kaepernick, who turns 31 next month, filed a trademark request in August to use “I’m With Kap” on clothing. The free agent has an open collusion grievance with the NFL.
