Yu “Cool” Jiajun, one of the most internationally renowned Chinese players in League of Legends, has transferred from Newbee Gaming to LGD Gaming, according to an announcement on Newbee’s weibo.

After spending a split on LPL team Newbee, Cool gained recognition for his individual play, despite not appearing to synergize well with the rest of the team. During playoffs, when Newbee 3-0’d Invictus Gaming, the team started Korean mid laner, Shin “Coco” Jinyeong over Cool.

Cool’s transfer to LGD Gaming is not unexpected. Starting mid laner, Wei “GodV” Zhen said on stream that he may not play the coming split and will instead focus on playing ranked. Following that, rumors circulated that Cool may join the team instead.

LGD Gaming finished sixth in their group in 2017 LPL Spring but re-qualified for the LPL in the Promotion tournament. They have earned a permanent spot in the league as a result of franchising.
