Valve has released the details of a new update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

As detailed on the official CS:GO blog, the patch adds a brand new map named Canals, set in a “historic Italian city.” The terrorist group for this map is Phoenix, and the Counter-Terrorists are SEAL Team 6.

The map itself features a unique layout, with the CT side opening into a wide open area and the T side containing a group of smaller spaces, forming multiple entries to each of the bomb sites.

The A site is set in the open CT area, and “rewards the use of smoke grenades as well as rifle skills.”The B site can be found in the interior. A canal runs underneath the B site, allowing for a stealthier approach into the CT side and A site.

Visually, the map itself appears a lot more colorful than its predecessors. Valve says it is listening to player feedback to make improvements to the map in future.

In addition to the release of Canals, the update introduces the Spectrum case. This case contains 17 new skins. The rare special item will be the second generation of knives in Chroma finishes.
