After a disappointing exit at the 2016 League of Legends World Championship, Team SoloMid will soon be playing without their starting AD carry Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng.

The longtime veteran has decided to take a break from competitive play, TSM announced today. He plans to take the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split off and reassess the decision to return to the pro stage. In the meantime, he will remain under the TSM banner to stream.

Citing physical and mental fatigue, Doublelift will be stepping away from the LCS stage for the first time since its inception in 2013. The 2016 season has been particularly strenuous for the 23-year-old; TSM doubled down on their efforts in the way they prepared for the 2016 World Championship, only to fall short by not making it out of the group stages.

TSM will try out new AD carries to replace him in the offseason. If Doublelift chooses to return to professional play after his time off, he will have to fight his way back into the starting roster like any other TSM hopeful.

Yahoo Esports will have a full interview with Doublelift tomorrow.
