Late Monday night, Min-Sik Koo, the commissioner of Turner’s Eleague, announced via Twitter that no action would be taken against Counter-strike teams owned by SK Gaming and Luminosity in regards to the allegations of “tortious interference” that were raised earlier this week thanks to an article published by ESPN.

More details arose over Memorial Day weekend through a conversation that SK Gaming’s management had with esports historian and analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields.

Although SK Gaming has yet to release an official statement or comment, owners and players from Luminosity have expressed their side of the story regarding the events that led to contract disputes behind closed doors.

The abridged version is that Luminosity players signed contracts with SK Gaming one day before MLG Columbus Major, contracts that were set to go into motion on July 1st, once their current contract with Luminosity had expired. But months prior to signing this contract, the team had signed a legally binding letter of intent with the Luminosity organization to extend their current sponsorship for two more years.

After winning the Columbus Major and traveling to Dreamhack Malmo, the team decided to not pursue the new opportunity with SK Gaming and instead wished to remain with LG. Luminosity went on to accuse SK of attempted poaching.

According to their conversation with Thorin, SK believe that the letters of intent were void due to the listed terms in the letters not being met in a timely manner by LG, putting SK in the clear to sign the team in July.

While the incident has confused esports insiders, it hasn’t detracted much from Luminosity’s stellar play. According to both HLTV.org and GosuGamers rankings, LG is currently the best Counter-Strike team in the world. Since winning the MLG Major, the Brazilians went on to win the ESL ESEA Pro League S3 finals and Dreamhack Austin. Most recently, LG topped their group in ELeague, earning a spot in the playoff bracket.
