ESL and Intel announced CS:GO tournament Intel Grand Slam with $1 million prize
ESL and Intel have announced the Intel Grand Slam, a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament with a $1 million team prize. The announcement was made during a livestream at E3.
The Intel Grand slam will reward the first team to win “four of the last ten Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitions hosted by ESL and DreamHack.”
This includes Intel Extreme Masters, ESL One, ESL Pro League, and the DreamHack Masters series. The Intel Grand Slam will start with ESL One Cologne, which will take place July 7-9.
“Intel’s involvement in esports and the gaming community has spanned more than 15 years, and we’re always looking for ways to take the player and fan experience to the next level,” said Gregory Bryant, senior vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group at Intel Corporation.
“In this next phase of our long-time partnership with ESL, we’re investing in the development of future esports stars, further expanding our global footprint with the Intel Extreme Masters circuit, and exploring fresh formats like the Intel Grand Slam that we announced today.”
When an Intel Grand Slam winner has been decided, each team’s trophy count will be reset to zero and the competition will start over. That means there could potentially be two teams claiming the prize.
As part of the partnership, Intel’s tech will be powering ESL’s esports events, studios and broadcasting operations, production hardware, and tournament PCs. ESL’s studios in North America and Europe will also be renamed to The Intel Esports Arenas.
