North American esports organization Cognitive Gaming will be ceasing operations on December 31 this year. The team made the announcement via its official Twitter account today.

Cognitive Gaming was founded in 2013, going on to sign teams in League of Legends, Smite, Super Smash Bros., and Heroes of the Storm. Based in California, the organization acquired players from League of Legends team Wazabi Gaming and competed in the League of Legends Challenger Circuit. The team went on to compete in the 2014 NA Challenger Series Spring Season, where they finished seventh and sixth in the spring and summer splits respectively, failing to qualify for the North American LCS

In May of this year, the organization’s Heroes of the Storm team left to eventually sign with another team.

Cognitive Gaming signed notable Super Smash Bros. player Justin “Wizzrobe” Hallett in 2014. He performed well at tournaments, taking first place at ARLO 3 and most recently placing 5th at DreamHack Winter.
