Ai “Fuudo” Keita and Joshua “Wolfkrone” Philpot earned spots in the Street Fighter V ELeague Playoffs and they both had to go through Kun Xian Ho to do it.

Xian might have been the MVP of the night as he played one stressful set after another. With the exception of Joe “MOV” Egami, every one of Xian’s matches during Group C’s Regular Season went to a fifth game. He started out the day losing to Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi 3-2, setting him up for his least stressful match against MOV, which he won 3-1.

Xian followed that up by eliminating Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez 3-2 and beating Wolfkrone in a 3-2 thriller in which he overcame a 0-2 deficit to earn a chance to play Fuudo in winners finals. Unfortunately, he could not overcome Fuudo, losing by a score of 3-2. Xian’s road to the ELeague Playoffs would have to go through Wolfkrone one more time.

He fell behind early again. However, Xian clawed his way back into the set from another 0-2 deficit. It seemed like Xian might have had Wolfkrone figured out but in the end, he just couldn’t overcome Laura’s oppressive, high-powered offense.

Wolfkrone also beat Tokido 3-0, once again showing that maybe the East Asian players just haven’t had enough experienced with a high level Laura player.

Fuudo and Wolfkrone await the two contestants to advance from Group D, who play next Friday. Two match-ups are already set, with Victor “Punk” Woodley facing off against Eduardo “PR Balrog” Perez and Yusuke Momochi competing against Daigo Umehara, who experienced a bit of a revival during Group B Regular Season play.
