The LCS finals finished on Sunday, with a new team claiming the crown in Europe, while North America saw a return to form for one of its most storied organizations.

Over in EU, G2 rose through the ranks to find their very first LCS championship. They brought down Origen largely on the back of rookie mid laner Luka “PerkZ” Perković’s spectacular assassin play on LeBlanc and Zed, neutralizing Origen’s star AD carry Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen in nearly every important fight. Not even the substitution of veteran mid laner Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez in for Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage could save Origen in Game 4, leading to the veteran squad’s demise.

Meanwhile, in NA, there was an outright barnburner of a series. Going into five games, every map came down to the wire, but it was the final trip to the Rift that brought CLG the trophy home. Rookie AD carry Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes stepped up during the final teamfight, Rocket Jumping into danger on his Rageblade Tristana and scoring himself a clutch triple kill to finish off the series.

This is the second split in a row that CLG has beaten TSM in the NA LCS finals.

Both squads will head to Shanghai, China to compete against the first place teams from the other regions of the world. The international tournament will take place from May 4-15, 2016.

Taylor Cocke was expecting fireworks during the NA LCS finals, but he wasn’t expecting this. Follow him on Twitter @taylorcocke, where he’ll be (over?)hyping Stixxay for the rest of the year.
