The nightmare is finally over.

After months of getting thrashed by aggro decks filled with pirates, we’re officially free thanks to Hearthstone Patch 7.1.0 (which Blizzard detailed earlier this month).

Included in the patch are two huge card nerfs: Small-Time Buccaneer is losing one health point and Spirit Claws has been raised from 1 to 2 mana. The pair of nerfs will hurt a multitude of aggro decks, but most heavily Aggro Shaman, which has been sitting at the top of the competitive table for months.

7.1.0 also marks the beginning of the Year of the Mammoth, but the actual cycling of the sets and the six Standard cards doesn’t happen until the Journey to Un’Goro expansion comes out in early April.

This is going to be a wild time for competitive Hearthstone, with players scrambling to find out exactly what the new meta is going to be. Don’t worry though, we’ll be covering each and every moment of the big shift, so hang out right here on the Yahoo Esports Hearthstone hub.
