The upcoming Intel Extreme Masters Gyeonggi event will feature an Overwatch tournament, ESL announced today.

Six Overwatch teams from Europe and Asia will compete in the Overwatch IEM Gyeonggi Invitational for a share of the $100,000 prize pool. The tournament will be hosted in the Goyang Sports Complex on December 16-18.

In addition to the Overwatch invitational, IEM Gyeonggi will host League of Legends and StarCraft II tournaments. It’s been eight years since ESL hosted an IEM event in South Korea, with IEM Gyeonggi marking the series’ first stadium event in the country.

“South Korea is considered by many to be the birthplace of esports and we’re thrilled that IEM is returning to the country for the first time since Season 3 to close out 2016,” said Michal Blicharz, VP of pro gaming at ESL. “The addition of the Overwatch IEM Gyeonggi Invitational will make the last IEM event of the year a celebration of South Korea’s most popular gaming titles.”

IEM Gyeonggi will be the final IEM event of 2016. It will be closely followed by IEM Katowice, which starts in February 2017 and features a $600,000 overall prize pool.

Those who are interested in attending IEM Gyeonggi can purchase tickets from the website.
