Immortals sign new League of Legends coach Ssong, formerly of ROX Tigers and Longzhu Gaming

Esports organization Immortals has announced a new coach for their League of Legends team. Sang-soo “Ssong” Kim has joined the roster as coach, after a stint coaching for Longzhu Gaming’s South Korea-based LoL team.

Ssong previously coached the ROX Tigers League of Legends roster. He was with the team through the 2016 season, during which they showed strong performances in the LCK. The ROX Tigers won the 2016 Spring Split, 2016 Summer Split, 2016 LCK Summer Playoffs, and the 2016 LoL Kespa Cup, to name but a few of their achievements. The team were semifinalists at Worlds last year, placing 3rd-4th.

Immortals has announced quite a few changes to their League of Legends roster. Last week the organization revealed it was parting ways with Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett, swapping junglers with Counter Logic Gaming for Jake “Xmithie” Puchero.

They have also signed on two new subs: William “Stunt” Chen who previously played for Phoenix1 and Team Liquid Academy, and Andy “AnDa” Hoang.

We recently spoke to Immortals CEO Noah Whinston about the roster changes, why the organization sought to bring a Korean coach over to NA, and how Xmithie will be fitting into the team. Check out our full interview in the embedded video above.
