Evo 2016 champion Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo has opened up about his Capcom Cup 2016 experience and he wasn’t happy about it.

“I think Capcom Cup 2016 was a total mess,” Infiltration told Core-A Gaming in a video interview.

Infiltration, who topped the Capcom Pro Tour and was the heavy favorite heading into the final tournament, went a shocking 0-2 at Capcom Cup 2016.

It appeared he didn’t understand Capcom Cup was split between two events over two days and he didn’t appreciate having to wait so long between playing games, something other players competing at Capcom Cup took issue with.

“It’s not much, but they failed to look after the 32 players in their most crucial moment. That’s something I wanted to be blunt about,” Infiltration said.

Infiltration did acknowledge he had a great year, thanks in part to Capcom, and he hopes for an improved Capcom Pro Tour in 2017.

In addition to Capcom Cup 2016, Infiltration talked at length about Street Fighter V Season 2.

“To be honest, I really don’t like it,” Infiltration said.

Season 2 released last month and brought a slew of changes to Street Fighter V’s roster. Some of the most notable changes included the removal of invincible meterless reversal moves (such as Ryu’s Dragon Punch), forward throw recovery time, and adjustments to the strength of light anti-air attacks.

However, each character has already received changes that buffed or nerfed abilities, and some appear to have been so drastic between Seasons 1 and 2 that Infiltration believes it’s a “big problem.”

“New players steadily coming in is good, but it feels like the devoted players who enjoyed and worked hard on Season 1 are being asked to throw away their character they trained for a year, which feels disempowering,” Infiltration said.

Infiltration believes Cammy, Guile, and Balrog received the biggest buffs. He lamented Nash, his primary character and the one he used to win Evo 2016.

“You could say they cut off his arms and his legs… It seemed they nerfed him pretty hard,” Infiltration said.

He also cited FANG (arguably the worst character in the game in Season 1) and Alex as characters that got nerfed too heavily.

While he doesn’t appear to be a fan of Akuma and thinks Nash might be relegated to a back-up character, Infiltration did say he was interested in exploring Ibuki, Juri, and Rashid more in Season 2.

“It might be time to swallow your pride and just go with a top-tier [character,]” Infiltration said.
