James Harden sets franchise record in 109-98 win over Lakers

The Nets had another balanced offensive attack on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers, leading to Brooklyn’s 108-98 win at Staples Center. Brooklyn has now won five games in a row, which is a season-high — as is the case with their four consecutive road wins.

Five Nets finished in double figures, with James Harden’s 23 points leading Brooklyn. Harden also had 11 assists in the win to log his franchise record 11th consecutive double-double. The Brooklyn guard’s 19 points-assists double-doubles this season is the highest total in the NBA this season.

Joe Harris finished second in scoring against the Lakers with 23 points off of six 3-pointers. Thursday’s game is the fifth in which Harris has made six-plus threes — something he only did six times in his six NBA seasons that preceded 2020-21.

Kyrie Irving finished with 16 points, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot — who was questionable to play coming into Thursday — scored 15 off the bench and Landry Shamet had 10.
