Julian Edelman continues to shoot down speculation he’ll join the Buccaneers

Julian Edelman has said a few times that he’s not going to pull a Rob Gronkowski. Edelman, the retired New England Patriots receiver, called it a career this offseason. Because Gronk retired in 2019, only to return to the NFL in 2020 when he engineered a trade to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, people are speculating Edelman might try to do the same.

Edelman could take a year off in 2021 before returning to join Tom Brady in Tampa — in theory. But Edelman has continuously ruled that out. He’s retired. His body won’t let him keep playing the game.

Here’s how Edelman responded on Twitter to this conspiracy theory.

Maybe that will quiet Patriots fans’ concerns. Maybe.
