The 2017 League of Legends College Championship format has been announced by Riot Games. The ten-team tournament will draw the best two teams from the five regions in collegiate League: The North, South, East, West, and Big Ten.

The inclusion of the Big Ten teams is the first time a conference champion will be headed to the collegiate championships. The tournament will be broken up into two stages: a group wildcard stage and an eight-team bracket stage.

While the first place teams from each region gets an automatic berth into the bracket stage, the final three participants will be determined by way of a group stage between the runners-up from the same regions.

Controversially, the College Championship playoff tournament will not feature a prize pool, as the money has been shifted towards regional championships. The event begins on April 1, with the playoff concluding May 29.
