While LGD Gaming Team Captain Chen “Pyl” Bo streamed from the LGD house, LGD owner Yang provided additional information on the LPL franchising situation. According to Yang, a few LPL teams have already selected cities, and franchising will be implemented in every region.

Chinese media Tuwan Esports translated a segment from LGD Captain Pyl’s stream that provided additional information on LPL franchising from the perspective of LGD owner Yang. According to Yang, EDward Gaming will relocated to Guangzhou, Snake eSports to Suzhou, and OMG to Chengdu. LGD applied to go to Hangzhou.

Yang added that avoiding relegation was important as they expended eight figures (most likely referring to Chinese RMB), and this investment would otherwise go to waste. He said having a secure spot in LPL will allow them to develop more talent. Most interestingly to western fans, Yang also added “I think this will spread to other regions, it was supposed to initiate at the same time in all regions.”

According to Riot, LPL teams moving to new cities will roll out slowly, and all teams won’t relocate all at once. The process will begin with the 2017 Summer split.
