Michael Chiesa vs. Vicente Luque added to UFC 265 lineup

A key welterweight bout between Michael Chiesa and Vicente Luque is the latest addition to the UFC 265 lineup in August.

MMA Junkie on Monday verified with multiple people that Chiesa (18-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) and Luque (20-7-1 MMA, 13-3 UFC) have signed contracts for the 170-pound matchup on Aug. 7. The people requested anonymity because UFC has yet to make an official announcement.

UFC 265 does not have an announced location or venue. The event will air on pay-per-view following prelims expected to air on ESPN and stream on ESPN+.

Chiesa, No. 10 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie welterweight rankings, is undefeated in four fights since moving up from the lightweight division in December 2018. “The Ultimate Fighter: Live” winner is coming off a lopsided unanimous decision win over Neil Magny at UFC on ESPN 20 in January.

No. 9-ranked Luque will attempt to hand Chiesa his first blemish in the weight class, while extending his own run of success. The Brazilian is 9-1 in his past 10 fights, and is coming off a thrilling first-round submission win over former champion Tyron Woodley in the “Fight of the Night” at UFC 260 in March.

The latest UFC 265 lineup now includes:

  • Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena – for women’s bantamweight title

  • Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz

  • Vince Morales vs. Drako Rodriguez

  • Johnny Munoz vs. Jamey Simmons

  • Casey Kenney vs. Song Yadong

  • Angela Hill vs. Tecia Torres

  • Michael Chiesa vs. Vicente Luque
