Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns out week-to-week with dislocated wrist
Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns is sidelined indefinitely with a dislocated left wrist he suffered against the Utah Jazz on Saturday night, the team announced on Sunday.
Towns, the team said, will be evaluated weekly. He does not need surgery, though the team did not provide a timeline for his return.

Towns landed hard on his left wrist while competing for a rebound against Jazz big man Rudy Gobert with just more than five minutes left in the game on Saturday night. He left the game briefly, but returned to the Timberwolves’ 116-111 win at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City. Towns finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
“I couldn’t catch anything,” Towns said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I was really there more just to be a distraction on the court. I just was there in case my team needed me.”
Towns said after the game that his wrist — which is the same one he fractured last season — was feeling “pretty sore,” but that he felt he needed to finish out the contest.
“I didn’t want to just quit the game and go get X-rays and stuff,” he said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I wanted to be available in case my team needed me, and just be out there cheering them on. I did what I had to do.”
Towns has had as tough a year as anyone, and was hit incredibly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 25-year-old has lost seven different family members due to coronavirus complications, including his uncle and his mom — something that is still taking a major toll on him.
Though his latest setback is undoubtedly disappointing, Towns is doing his best to not let it get him down.
“I’m going to just stay positive,” Towns said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “It’s only right that I hurt my wrist in 2020.”
