Esports are still video games, after all.

One of the all-time classic video game sponsors has reared its head once again. According to a press release from Team Dignitas, Mountain Dew has signed a partnership deal with Splyce, SK Gaming, and Team Dignitas.

“We are excited to expand our support of esports through these partnerships with three world-class teams,” said Mountain Dew global senior marketing director Manos Spanos in the announcement. “Industry-first partnerships and authentic integrations that align with core Mountain Dew values and resonate with gamers and DEW Nation will continue to inspire us as a business.”

This isn’t Mountain Dew and parent company PepsiCo’s first foray into esports. Last year, Mountain Dew and the ESL partnered to create an amateur tournament in the Mountain Dew League, the winners of which qualified for spots in the ESL EPEA Pro League.

Mountain Dew has a long history in the more general video game space. On top of being the most stereotyped gamer beverage, the soda manufacturer has had advertising deals in place for everything from Halo to Call of Duty.

In other partnership news, OpTic Gaming has entered an exclusive streaming deal with Twitch, joining the likes of TSM, Cloud9, and Virtus.pro. For more, make sure to stay right here on Yahoo Esports.
