New Overwatch hero Orisa gets March release date

Blizzard has announced that Orisa, the latest Overwatch hero, will be added to the live game on Tuesday, March 21, just over a week from today.

The tank character has been available on the Public Test Realm server since her initial reveal two weeks ago.

The quadrupedal omnic’s backstory was first hinted at through Blizzard’s lore updates centering on child prodigy and inventor Efi Oladele.Orisa hails from Numbani, and the map itself was updated prior to her reveal to hint at the new hero’s origin. Doomfist’s gauntlet was removed from the payload and a portion of the airport was damaged. It’s possible that this map update will go live on the same date.

Orisa is the 24th hero to join Overwatch’s roster. She’s equipped with a long-range machine gun that slows down her movement while firing. Her alternate fire functions similarly to Zarya’s ultimate ability (albeit, on a smaller scale) by pulling enemies towards its center when active. She possesses a Fortify ability that buffs her defense and renders her immune to crowd control abilities that would otherwise immobilize her. She also possesses a Protective Barrier ability, in which she throws out a stationary barrier that can protect her allies from incoming fire.

Her ultimate ability is Supercharger, which drops a device on the ground that boosts the damage of all teammates within her line of sight.
