Newbee’s League of Legends team has signed a new rookie Chinese jungler, Huang “Nine” Yongjian, in compliance with L.ACE rules, according to their weibo.

In the LPL, Newbee sits fifth of sixth in their group with a record of three wins and seven losses. The team has two rotating mid laners, Yu “Cool” Jiajun and Shin “Coco” Jinyeong. Recently, Korean jungler Baek “Swift” Dahoon has fallen under criticism for his performances when Cool plays, which suggests he has poor synergy with one of Newbee’s mid laners.

As Cool has had strong individual performances, but has also appeared to struggle to mesh with Swift, the addition of Nine could provide Newbee additional options. It is yet unclear whether or not Nine will play in the LPL or remain on the bench, but Swift reportedly threatened to leave the team if Newbee signed a substitute jungler last year.

Newbee will play their next match on Saturday against LGD Gaming.
