Nintendo reveals Nintendo Versus, new social platform with focus on esports

Nintendo has revealed Nintendo Versus on Twitter, a new platform dubbed as the “destination for Nintendo social competitive updates!”

The account notably marks Nintendo’s official ramping up of efforts in esports, and the Twitter banner image features upcoming games Splatoon 2, ARMS, and Pokken Tournament DX. Interestingly, there is a blank spot in the left side of the banner, leaving some to speculate that a possible fourth game will be confirmed at E3 2017.

Nintendo’s E3 presentations will start on Tuesday, June 13 at 9AM PDT / 12PM EDT. Nintendo will also be hosting various tournaments for the aforementioned games, with the schedule as follows:

Splatoon 2

  • Tuesday, June 13

  • 2:30PM PDT

  • Competitors: Fours teams representing the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand will go head-to-head

Pokken Tournament DX

  • Wednesday, June 14

  • 10:30AM PDT

  • Competitors: Eight “YouTube and Twitch stars”

ARMS

  • Wednesday, June 14

  • 3:30PM PDT

  • Competitors: Alex “CaliPower” Valle, Kelsy “SuperGirlKels” Medeiros, Daniel “Tafokints” Lee, and Marie-Laure “Kayane” Norindr will face off against four E3 attendees
