F.C. Copenhagen’s esports organization North has announced (via hltv.org) a second Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, named North Academy.

The players have signed three-year contracts with the organization and will be representing North at tournaments when the first team is unable to compete. North Academy serves as a ground for the organization to “find and develop talented players.”

The current North Academy lineup is as follows:

  • Frederik ”LOMME” Nielsen (Team leader)

  • Daniel “mertz” Mertz

  • Nicolai “glace” Jensen

  • Nicklas “gade” Gade

  • Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand

  • Alexander “ave” Holdt (Coach)

Coach ave is a notable former CS 1.6 player and experienced in-game leader. He was previously signed to German esports team, mortal Teamwork.

A part of our vision for North and the future of esports, is to professionalize talent development,” said Chief Gaming Officer Jacob Toft-Andersen. “It is with that purpose in mind that we have decided to create North Academy, so we are able to turn the players with the highest potential into future superstars and create results in the long run. I am extremely happy that we managed to secure a highly courted team, and I feel like we have a perfect balance of experience and raw talent.”

North Academy will make their competitive debut at this week’s Copenhagen Games taking place in Øksnehallen, Copenhagen. Fnatic’s Academy team will also be competing at the event.
