Orisa is Overwatch's next hero

Hello, Orisa (Blizzard)
Hello, Orisa (Blizzard)

After weeks of teases, Blizzard has announced the next hero for Overwatch: Orisa.

The quadrupedal robot hero was – as expected – designed by the Efi Oladele, the child genius and inventor that has been prevalent in the recent lore updates released by Blizzard. What wasn’t expected is that she doesn’t have control of Doomfist’s missing gauntlet, and is tasked with protecting the world from him instead.

In a separate video, Jeff Kaplan discusses Orisa’s class and abilties.

She’ll be a tank with a long range machine gun primary fire that causes her to move slowly when firing. Her alternate fire acts like a miniature Zarya ultimate, blasting off a pulse and pulling enemies towards its center when reactivated. She’s also got Fortify, which makes her tankier and prevents her from being affected by crowd control. Protective Barrier is a shield that she can cast at a variety of ranges, protecting either herself or anyone within range. Her ultimate is Supercharger, which drops a small device on the ground that boost the damage of all allies within line of site.

Orisa is available on the PTR right now, so go check her out if you’re interested in how she plays. For how Orisa will affect the pro meta and everything else, keep it locked to the Yahoo Esports Overwatch hub.
