Overwatch Year of the Rooster event details announced

Blizzard has revealed the details for a Year of the Rooster event for its multiplayer shooter Overwatch.

As explained on the official Overwatch website, the event will introduce limited edition character skins, a new game mode, and new character highlight intros. The event is available on the servers for the next three weeks.

New character skins include Journey to the West-inspired looks for Roadhog, Reinhardt, Zenyatta, and Winston, among others. Mei and D.Va have also received some very awesome skins inspired by traditional dress styles.

The new mode is called Capture the Rooster, inspired by traditional competitive game mode Capture the Flag.

Players can unlock the skins via Lunar Loot Boxes, which will replace the regular Loot Boxes for a limited time during the Year of the Rooster event.

In related Overwatch esports news, the Winter Premiere Live Finals are scheduled for January 27. The event will be hosted at PAX South in the PAX Arena and feature the top four North American teams — compLexity Gaming, Immortals, Luminosity Gaming, and Team Kungarna — competing for a $100,000 prize pool.
