Hearthstone squads are coming together to take on the Red Bull Team Brawl (Blizzard)

A new season of Team Brawl: Hearthstone is coming, Red Bull Media House announced Monday. The tournament will be split up into three events throughout 2017, taking place on April 15, August 5, and the finals on December 15.

One of the only “sealed” tournaments in competitive Hearthstone, Team Brawl features four teams of three, each of which is given a pool of 240 cards to create three decks with. From there, they’ll compete in a Team Conquest round-robin, with each deck eliminated after wins until one team emerges victorious. Players on each team collaborate to create the decks and play the games themselves.

The prize pool hasn’t been announced yet, but last year’s winner Tempo Storm took home $3,000 for their first place finish.

The exact list of players hasn’t been announced yet either, but it will feature players from Tempo Storm, Team SoloMid, Team Luminosity, and Team Dignitas. The event will be casted by Dan “Frodan” Chou and Nathan “Admirable” Zamora, among others.

Sealed eventsformats are few and far between in Hearthstone, so it’s exciting to see people continue to experiment with the format. With sealed and drafting formats core to Magic: The Gathering’s competitive longevity, it only makes sense for organizers to find ways to work them into their tournaments. Maybe one day a more balanced Arena will make its way into the world of Hearthstone esports.
