Report: Dolphins placing QB Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve

The Miami Dolphins will play Week 3 of the 2021 regular season without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa at their disposal. That’s been known for a few days. But now, a new report indicates that the Miami Dolphins will be without Tagovailoa for a notably larger block of time — he’s reportedly set to be placed on Injured Reserve, meaning he’s going to be out of action for the next three weeks (and games) for Miami.

At least.

Miami’s next three games are on the road against Las Vegas, in South Florida against the Indianapolis Colts and in Tampa Bay against the reigning Super Bowl champion Buccaneers. The news that Miami will be without Tagovailoa for a larger block of time further amplifies the importance of Sunday’s contest against the Raiders. If Miami is going to keep their postseason playoff hopes alive, they’re likely going to need to do so by targeting wins against Las Vegas and Indianapolis. Winning against the Buccaneers was already set to be a tall task and a tough order. But without Tagovailoa, it would seem as though Miami would be best suited to look beyond that game.

Perhaps Brissett comes in and lights things up. But if he doesn’t the optimism about Miami’s ability to survive the loss of their starting quarterback will fade quickly and put Miami in a very difficult position for the rest of the season.

So let’s see what Brissett has in store for the Raiders. The Dolphins are going to need him to play well for any chance to stay afloat.
