Report: Warriors holding predraft workouts with six 2021 NBA draft prospects

While some of the NBA is still busy with the second round of the postseason, the Golden State Warriors are preparing for July’s draft. Heading into draft season, the Warriors could potentially have a pair of first-round picks in the 2021 edition of the draft.

Depending on if the Minnesota Timberwolves land outside the top-three picks in the draft lottery, the Warriors will receive their first-round selection. Along with Minnesota’s pick, the Warriors own their selection slated for the end of the lottery.

To prepare for the draft, the Warriors are beginning to do their homework on the 2021 class of prospects. According to Wes Goldberg of The Mercury News, the Warriors held predraft workouts with six prospects.

Boise State’s Derrick Alston Jr., UC San Barbara’s Jaquori McLaughlin, Shawnee State’s EJ Onu, San Diego State’s Jordan Schakel, Texas’ Jericho Sims and Colorado’s McKinley Wright IV joined the Warriors for predraft workouts, per Goldberg.

According to ESPN’s Draft Big Board, Wright IV ranks at No. 97 overall with Alston Jr. at No. 98 in the rankings.

In his senior season at Colorado, Wright IV averaged 15.2 points on 84.4% shooting from the floor with 5.7 assists per contest. During the Buffaloes run through the Pac 12 tournament and NCAA tournament, the 6-foot guard tallied double-figures in scoring in five consecutive contests.

Throughout the 2021 draft season, the Warriors will continue to hold predraft workouts with a bevy of different prospects.
