Report: Warriors reject Sixers’ heavy asking price in trade for guard Ben Simmons

While the Golden State Warriors have to prepare to potentially make a pair of selections in the lottery at the 2021 NBA draft, Bob Myers and Steve Kerr also have to keep an eye on the trade market.

With veterans like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on the roster, trade chatter has been hovering around the Warriors during the pre-draft process.

One of the names connected with different trade rumors during the early offseason is Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons. However, his asking price might be too much for the Warriors.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Warriors rejected a trade offer that included Simmons. The Sixers asked for Andrew Wiggins, 2020 No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman, Golden State’s 2021 No. 7 and No. 14 picks and two future firsts, per Pompey.

Since being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, the 25-year-old has earned three All-Star game appearances and two nods to the NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Despite Simmons’ accolades, losing a pair of contributors and four first-round picks is a heavy price to pay for any player. As the draft pushes closer, trade buzz will continue to swirl.
