Riot Games confirms League of Legends casters can choose to receive Twitch subs and donations

Update 11:30AM PT: Riot Games has offered a further explanation of the changes to donation restrictions for its casters. The company confirmed that it worked with individual casters to determine their passions and interests, and contracts were updated accordingly as a result. It is not a blanket policy change.

Riot Games casters are no longer banned from monetizing their streams, Riot Games has confirmed to Yahoo Esports.

This includes enabling paid subscribers via the Twitch Partnership program and accepting donations from stream viewers, but they are not allowed to have sponsors or paid advertisements. Previously, Riot Games casters were bound by contracts that restricted them from becoming partnered streamers and accepting donations.

Recently, EU LCS caster Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels announced that he had regained his Twitch sub button and status to accept donations from viewers. He appears to be among the first of Riot Games’ casters who have been able to gain partnership on Twitch.
