Sixers guard Seth Curry throws shade at former Mavericks team after win

When a guy is going up against his former team for the first time, there is always a little extra juice that comes with the matchup. That is what happened for Philadelphia 76ers guard Seth Curry on Thursday when he faced the Dallas Mavericks for the first time since the trade.

The Mavericks sent Curry to the Sixers in November on draft night in exchange for Josh Richardson. It was the second time Dallas let Curry get away and he reminded them on Thursday of just how valuable he is to a team.

He scored 15 points and he knocked down all three of his triples in a 111-97 win over the Mavericks.

“Never nothing personal, man,” Curry said with a smile. “I got a lot of respect for a lot of those guys over there. I just think they made a bad business decision, but it happens all the time, you know what I’m saying? It is what it is.”

On top of what he brought offensively, he was very active on the defensive end of the floor. The veteran out of Duke did a great job of harassing Richardson from the beginning and he made an impact on that end as well.

“Seth Curry got his hands, we told him he should have known their play so he did,” laughed coach Doc Rivers. “I just thought our defensive energy, I’m looking at, we shot 43% we didn’t have a great offensive night, and yet, we’re up by 20 most of the game. Dallas is a great offensive team, and for us to play defense like that was special.”

Most importantly, the Sixers got another win and that is all that matters at the end of the day. The team needs to continue to grow and that was another impressive win for Philadelphia regardless of who the opponent is.

“Another night to go out and get a win and play well as a team,” Curry added. “That’s the ultimate goal is to get a win so the main thing was good to see a lot of my guys all down at the end of the floor, and just catch up, and then play again.”

The Sixers will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday at home.
