Well, SK Telecom T1 is still SK Telecom T1. And Faker is still Faker.

SKT’s first game of the 2016 League of Legends World Championship got off to a quick start with Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok outright abusing Cloud9’s Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen, killing him repeatedly in lane with jungler Bae “Bengi” Seong-ung and support Lee “Wolf” Jae-wan helping him out. From there, it was the Faker show.

SKT’s first game at Worlds showed that they may be back at full power. Despite their struggles towards the end of LCK Summer, SK Telecom’s roster always has the potential to absolutely pop off. And that’s exactly what they did against NA’s third seed. They took a quick early lead and used it to utterly strangle out Cloud9. They were decisive, clean, and even exhibited a little bit of swagger when bringing them out.

Frankly, they looked like World Champions.

As the reigning World Champions, SKT has a lot of pressure hanging over their heads coming into the 2016 World Championships. And based on their very first game of Worlds, it doesn’t look like it’s affecting them.

Take note, rest of the world. SKT is on the rise.
