Microsoft has announced Street Fighter IV is now backwards compatible on Xbox One but there’s a catch: it isn’t the latest version of the game.

For those who aren’t quite ready to let go of Street Fighter IV, you can dust off your old physical copy of the game or purchase a digital version to download to Xbox One if you don’t already own it.

We loaded up the game to test it and it turns out only vanilla Street Fighter IV is available. Going into the Xbox Store on Xbox One reveals no updated versions of Street Fighter IV are purchasable or downloadable if you own it. If you don’t carry over your save from Xbox 360, you’ll need to beat the game’s arcade mode with various characters to unlock them all.

However, you can download any add-ons specific to Street Fighter IV you might already own, such as alternate costumes or the Power Up Pack update that added Championship Mode and Replay functions to the game.

Street Fighter IV originally launched on Xbox 360 in 2009 and went through a few updates, concluding with Ultra Street Fighter IV in 2014. The game remained competitive in the following years, thanks in large part to the Capcom Pro Tour, which started in 2014.

Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue closed out the competitive era of USF4 (as a marquee title) by winning Capcom Cup 2015 in decisive fashion over Daigo Umehara, the winner of SF4 at Evo 2009 and 2010.

Street Fighter IV joins a handful of backwards compatible competitive games on Xbox One, including Catherine, Tekken 6, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Ultra Street Fighter IV has been available on PlayStation 4 since May 2015.

Michael Martin will probably just skip playing vanilla SF4 and play Catherine on backwards compatible X1 instead. Follow him on Twitter @Bizarro_Mike.
