TCU will be without leading rusher Darius Anderson for the final games of its 2017 season.

Coach Gary Patterson said after Saturday’s loss 38-20 loss to Oklahoma that he feared Anderson could be sidelined for the rest of the year. He confirmed the news Tuesday. Anderson suffered a right foot injury when his leg got twisted awkwardly during a tackle. He was unable to put any weight on his leg as he was helped from the field.

Anderson is TCU’s leading rusher in 2017. Kyle Hicks was the team’s projected starting running back at the beginning of the season, but Anderson emerged as the team’s best back when Hicks got injured. Anderson finishes the season with 128 carries for 768 yards and eight touchdowns. He had seven carries for 42 yards and a score before he got hurt.

Hicks has 93 carries for 473 yards and three scores. He’ll probably play the role of the team’s featured back against Texas Tech on Saturday. He missed two of the team’s first four games of the season.

Patterson also said Tuesday that quarterback Kenny Hill was questionable for Saturday’s game with an injury.

If TCU beats Texas Tech and Baylor over the next two weeks it will have a rematch with the Sooners in the Big 12 title game on Dec. 2 in Dallas.
