The Professional Esports Association (PEA) has announced two new members via Twitter on Thursday. Team Dignitas and Misfits have both joined up with the North American collective.

The PEA was formed in September 2016 with the intention of creating a team-owned esports league for North American esports. The two new teams are joining the seven founding PEA members of Team SoloMid, Cloud9, Team Liquid, Counter Logic Gaming, NRG Esports, Immortals, and compLexity.

Just a few months after its formation, the organization became the focus of controversy when the players (led by Scott “SirScoots” Smith) on PEA teams banded together to release an open letter to protest what they perceived as unfair treatment from the team owners. The letter alleged that the PEA was barring teams from participating in the ESL Pro League, a competing league. The PEA disputed the claim, but the league the PEA had initially intended to organize never materialized.

The official PEA Twitter feed has been silent since February, when management changes were announced. Founding commissioner Jason Katz left along with “additional staff.”
