Team Liquid picks up ex-Tainted Minds players for new Academy League of Legends team

Update: An earlier version of this article listed player Omran “Viper” Shoura as the Top Laner, as he had played with Team 8.1 in earlier games in the Challenger Series. He has since tweeted that he is not part of the roster.

Esports organization Team Liquid has announced a new League of Legends Academy team. The news was announced by co-CEO Steve Arhancet on Twitter today.

The roster is made up of previous Team 8.1 members, including former Tainted Minds players Tristan “Cake” Cote-Lalumiere and Ryan “ShorterACE” Nget. The team is travelling to Los Angeles today to bootcamp for upcoming matches.

The full roster is as follows:

  • Brandon “sexycan” Norris

  • Ryan “ShorterACE” Nget

  • Andrew “Slooshi” Pham

  • Tristan “Cake” Cote-Lalumiere

  • Kenneth “ExecutionerKen” Tang

Team Liquid previously sold their League of Legends Challenger Series spot to eUnited in November 2016. Several of the Team Liquid Academy players from the previous roster have since moved on to the main Team Liquid roster, including Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett and Matt “Matt” Elento. Many more went on to become professional players on other teams.
