Team SoloMid League of Legends coach Parth “Parth” Naidu wants his team to have more time between the conclusion of the Mid-Season Invitational and the beginning of the Summer Split.

During a press conference after their 2017 NA LCS Spring Split championship victory, Parth was asked by Slingshot Esports’ Andrew Kim about the short break.

“I think it’s a really strange decision to have MSI be this long because right after finals, in two or three days, we’re going to be leaving and going to MSI. And assuming we’re there for the entire time, it ends on May 21. Two weeks after that is when Summer starts,” Parth said.

The result is a very condensed period for the team to prepare for the Summer Split.

“I think at least in the future something needs to be remedied where either shorten MSI or they need a longer period of time between the next season start or they have a bye week for the team that went to MSI.”

The 2017 Mid-Season Invitational finished up on May 20, with the NA LCS Summer Split kicking off on June 3, meaning there are just 13 days between the finals and the beginning of seasonal play. And if tradition is held up, TSM will be playing in the first match of the split against Cloud9 due to their finals matchup in Spring.

“Like CLG said last year, they were really disadvantaged by going there because they didn’t have any time to rest in Summer,’ Parth said. “It’s such a long process from season to playoffs to Worlds.”

TSM are faced with a tough choice: Go directly into the Summer Split with no time to rest, or take a break from practice with the knowledge that they’ll be behind on the meta. TSM has chosen the latter.

“We’ve already determined that after MSI, we’re going to take a week, week and a half off,” Parth said. “Even if we’re somewhat rusty coming into Summer, hopefully it won’t hinder us too much. We’re going to take it slowly coming into Summer and hopefully build up momentum towards the end.”

TSM will be heading to the 2017 Mid-Season Invitational play in, which starts this Friday, April 28. For more, head over to the Yahoo Esports League of Legends hub.
