Valve introduces Underlord to Dota 2

As promised, Valve has released the Underlord in Dota 2.

Released as part of the “Dark Rift” update, which also includes a new post-game summary that was showcased at The International 6, the Underlord was the last remaining hero from the original Dota to be ported over to Dota 2, bringing the current grand total to 112 Heroes.

Underlord is an auto-attack oriented melee hero. He is built with similar stats to a tank, and his kit should enable him as a strong laner. His passive ability, Atrophy Aura, weakens the base damage of nearby enemy heroes and units. If they die while under this effect, Underlord gets a buff to his base damage for a brief period of time. This makes him a terrifying foe to meet in the jungle, as after farming a few camps, he will be hitting like a truck.

His ‘Pit of Malice’ ability is an AOE root with a decent cast range and the potential to snare multiple units in one use. Pit of Malice renders a unit stationary long enough that Underlord can use Firestorm, his main form for ability damage and waveclear, which has an exceptionally long duration. His ult, ‘Dark Rift’, can be use to transport any nearby friendly heroes to another allied unit anywhere on the map. Think of it as a Boots of Travel for everyone nearby, only on a 2+ minute cooldown.

The 113th hero, Monkey King, was also announced at Ti6. While there are no details currently, we do have this sick video to tide us over.
