Watch Heroes of the Dorm event this weekend, winners get free college tuition
Blizzard is hosting its annual Heroes of the Dorm event on Saturday, April 8, starting at 1PM PST. The tournament will feature the four best collegiate North American Heroes of the Storm teams facing off in the Las Vegas Cox Pavilion arena at the University of Nevada.
The winning team will be awarded free tuition for the remainder of their collegiate careers.
This year’s four competing teams are as follows:
University of California – Irvine (Carrying Mistax)
Louisiana State University (Pick Rick)
University of Kentucky (Scratch ‘Em)
University of Texas – Arlington (UTA HOTD)
The event will be livestreamed via Facebook on the Heroes of the Storm page. The matches will see Louisiana State University vs. University of Kentucky, and University of Texas at Arlington vs. University of California Irvine.
Heroes of the Dorm was broadcast via a partnership with ESPN in 2015 and 2016, but Blizzard opted to stream with Facebook Live this year. We interviewed college esports lead Adam Rosen on why they’ve opted to change streaming platforms this year.
Heroes of the Storm is getting a massive update in late April. The patch brings the game to version 2.0, adding a host of changes including Loot Chests, a new Diablo II-inspired hero, and new player progression system.
