Team Liquid has announced that Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng will be joining the roster as the AD carry for the remainder of the split.

In a video posted on the Team Liquid Facebook page, Team Liquid co-CEO and owner Steve Arhancet detailed how Doublelift would be fitting into the roster.

“In the last week of LCS, we saw that [Jung “Youngbin” Young-bin] is not yet ready to deliver the results that were needed in order for us to perform well this split,” Arhancet said in the video. “And so we will be making an additional change to the roster.”

Doublelift will be the starting AD carry from this week onwards until the end of the split, which is when his contract with Team Liquid will end. He was previously playing with Team SoloMid before organization announced in November 2016 that he would be taking the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split off to focus on streaming.

TSM has confirmed the Doublelift intends to “come back and try out for a position on TSM in the summer split.” The organization also confirmed that Jason ‘WildTurtle’ Tran would not be impacted by this shift, as TSM will field a six-man roster at the summer split if Doublelift is re-recruited.

Team Liquid recently revealed that it was holding out tryouts during the two-week break for IEM Katowice, although the announcement did not specify for which role.

“In the offseason, we started off with a lot of hope,” Arhancet had said during the stream. “We really wanted to have a carry kind of bot lane… We also saw jungle as a very important role, so we went with our two import slots for [Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin] and [Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin].”
