DigitalChaos drops entire Dota 2 roster, replaces with former Team Onyx members

Esports organization DigitalChaos has unexpectedly announced they are parting ways with their Dota 2 team. The organization has signed a new lineup comprised of former members of Team Onyx, who will be competing under the DC banner moving forward.

The new lineup is as follows:

  • Mason “mason” Venne (Position 1)

  • Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop (Position 2)

  • Kanishka “BuLba” Sosale (Position 3)

  • Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho (Position 4)

  • Kim “DuBu” Doo-young (Position 5)

Former DC players Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen, Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov, Aliwi “w33” Omar, David “MoonMeander” Tan, and team manager Alyssa Thompson have formed a new team called Thunderbirds.

As a result of the transition, Thunderbirds will retain their invited spot in the upcoming Kiev Major, albeit under their new title. Similarly, Team Onyx (who qualified via the North America qualifier) will retain their spot in the tournament, but with the new organization name DC. The DigitalChaos team house will remain in Arizona.

“The current roster and DC have mutually agreed that the time was right for them to go on and do their own thing. We’ve had massive success with that team,” DC co-founder Thomas Hancock wrote in the announcement.

Team Onyx was formed at the beginning of this year.

The Kiev Major 2017 is scheduled to take place April 20-23 in Kiev, Ukraine. It will be the second major Dota 2 tournament of the season, and has a $3,000,000 prize pool. Valve recently re-added Treant Protector to the Captain’s Mode, and it’ll be interesting to see if he gets any use at the event.
